Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar Plate

It is used for the isolation and culture of bile salt-tolerant Gram-negative bacteria; gelatin-pancreatic enzyme hydrolysate and yeast extract provide essential nutrients for bacterial growth, while sodium deoxycholate inhibits Gram-positive bacteria growth and precipitates under acidic conditions; Crystal violet inhibits Gram-positive bacteria and certain fungi; Glucose serves as the sole carbon source, sodium chloride maintains osmotic pressure, and agar acts as a gelling agent. Neutral red functions as a pH indicator, appearing red under acidic conditions and orange-yellow under alkaline conditions.
