Urumin exhibits antiviral activity against human influenza A virus, effectively neutralizing drug-resistant H1 influenza virus by targeting the conserved stem site of H1 hemagglutinin. It has a half-inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 3.8 μM in inhibiting the growth of PR8 influenza virus and can protect young mice from fatal influenza virus infection.
