TCBS Agar

1.Due to varying microwave power, if the medium is not fully melted within 3 minutes, crush it into pieces before heating on high power, or extend the heating time by 0.5 to 1 minute.
2.Check for contamination. Do not use if microbial growth is observed.
3.Pour plates under aseptic conditions to prevent microbial contamination.
4.Do not overheat in the microwave, as excessive heating will cause severe water loss and reduce the nutritional performance of the product.
5.This product is for single use only. Pour out all the medium in the bottle and avoid repeated melting and solidification.
6.This product is not intended for clinical diagnosis. Test Principle: Peptone and yeast extract powder provide carbon and nitrogen sources, vitamins and growth factors. Sodium chloride stimulates the growth of vibrios. Sucrose is a fermentable sugar. Sodium cholate, ox bile powder, sodium thiosulfate, sodium citrate and elevated pH inhibit Gram-positive bacteria and coliforms. Vibrio cholerae is sensitive to acidic environments, so the pH of this medium promotes its growth. Sodium thiosulfate reacts with ferric citrate to indicate hydrogen sulfide production. Bromothymol blue and thymol blue act as pH indicators. Agar serves as the gelling agent for the medium.
