Tat-AKAP79 (326-336) is a peptide consisting of an HIV-1 Tat protein transduction domain linked to an 11-amino acid peptide chain corresponding to residues 326-336 of A-kinase anchor protein 79 (AKAP79). At a concentration of 200 μM, it inhibits the sensitization of transient receptor potential vanadium channel 1 (TRPV1) induced by protein kinase A (PKA) or PKC activation in isolated rat dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. In vivo, Tat-AKAP79 (326-336) inhibits nociceptive behavior induced by formaldehyde or phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA014) in mice. It also prolongs the latency of paw withdrawal in response to radiant heat stimulation in mice and increases the mechanical threshold force of paw withdrawal in a carrageenan-induced inflammatory pain mouse model.
