Sulfatase Activity Assay Kit

Sulfatase (EC 3.1.6) is a kind of hydrolytic enzyme widely found in animals， plants and microorganisms. It can catalyze the hydrolysis of organic sulfate bonds to generate corresponding alcohols and inorganic sulfates. Sulfatase plays a variety of key roles in organisms， participating in glycosaminoglycan metabolism， cholesterol metabolism， hormone metabolism and drug metabolism. Intracellular sulfatase is usually located in lysosomes， and defects in sulfatase can lead to lysosomal storage diseases， such as Marchio disease and Hunt syndrome. Its abnormal expression may be related to some hormone-dependent cancers ( such as breast cancer and prostate cancer ). Sulfatase can hydrolyze the specific substrate 4-Nitrocatechol sulfate to produce 4-nitrocatechol. The kit calculates the activity of sulfatase by the formation rate of 4-nitrocatechol.
