Singlet Oxygen Sensor Green Fluorescent Probe（Water-Soluble for Extracellular Applications）

520WS Singlet Oxygen Sensor Green Fluorescent Probe is a water-soluble fluorescent probe specifically used for extracelluar singlet oxygen detection, because it can not penetrate cell membrane. This probe is highly selective to singlet oxygen. Different from existing fluorescent and chemiluminescent singlet oxygen, it show no significant response to hydroxyl radicals, superoxide, or other reactive oxygen species (ROS). The indicator itself exhibits only faint blue fluorescence. Upon reacting with singlet oxygen, it releases strong green fluorescence (maximum Ex/Em approximately 504/525 nm). Its mechanism of action involves singlet oxygen reacting to eliminate PET quenching groups, thereby restoring fluorescence properties. Singlet oxygen can be generated through various pathways, such as dye photosensitization. In mammalian biology, as one of the reactive oxygen species, singlet oxygen is closely associated with the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and its subsequent cardiovascular effects. Polyphenolic antioxidants can scavenge and reduce reactive oxygen concentrations, potentially preventing such harmful oxidative effects. Ingestion of pigments that generate singlet oxygen upon photoactivation can cause severe photosensitivity reactions in skin, a problem particularly prominent in herbivorous animals. Additionally, singlet oxygen is considered a key active agent in photodynamic therapy.
