S-Thanatin is an insect antimicrobial peptide with broad-spectrum and potent antimicrobial activity. S-Thanatin inhibits the activity of Gram-negative bacteria, Gram-positive bacteria, and fungi without cytotoxicity. Its antimicrobial activity is not affected by pH, but the monovalent cations (Na+/K+) reduce its inhibitory activity against Gram-negative bacteria in a dose-dependent manner.
