RP-832c is a synthetic analog of the host defense peptide (HDP) that primarily acts on the mannose receptor CD206 (Kd = 3.5 μM) of M2 macrophages. Binding of RP-832c to CD206 leads to a significant conformational change in the receptor, activating related signaling pathways and causing rapid apoptosis in CD206-positive M2 macrophages, which then repolarize to the M1 phenotype. CD206 gene expression is significantly reduced in RP-832c-treated M2 macrophages, while the expression of the M1 macrophage marker TNF-α is transiently increased. RP-832c can be used in research on T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
