Product Description L-Glutamic acid is a non-essential amino acid for humans， as the body can synthesize it endogenously. It is the primary excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system， participating in the regulation of learning， memory， and synaptic plasticity. It is an agonist of glutamate receptors， including metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs)， AMPA receptors， NMDA receptors， and kainate (KA) receptors. L-Glutamic acid lacks ultraviolet (UV) absorption groups and strong fluorescent properties， and thus cannot be directly determined by conventional detectors. This kit employs a pre-column derivatization method: under weakly alkaline conditions， OPA (o-phthalaldehyde) and 3-MPA (3-mercaptopropionic acid) specifically react with the amino group of L-Glutamic acid to form fluorescent derivatives. Upon excitation with ultraviolet light， these derivatives emit fluorescence at a longer wavelength than the excitation light. The fluorescence intensity is proportional to the L-Glutamic acid concentration with a high response， making this method suitable for automated batch analysis by HPLC. This kit is specifically designed for the rapid and efficient extraction and quantification of L-Glutamic acid in plant samples.
