Pinealon is a three-amino acid peptide that exhibits neuroprotective properties. This compound inhibits the accumulation of ROS (reactive oxygen species) and ERK1/2 activation, stimulates the activity of major cellular components in brain tissue, and slows the rate of spontaneous apoptosis. Furthermore, pinealon also significantly protects rat offspring from prenatal hyperhomocysteinemia.
