PIC1 PA is a 15-amino acid peptide and a potent PIC1 analog that inhibits classical pathway-mediated complement activation. Functionally, it interferes with the interaction between C1s-C1r-C1r-C1s/MASPs and the C1q/MBL collagen-like region (CLR). PIC1 PA specifically binds to the C1q CLR, with an average equilibrium dissociation constant (KD) of 33.3 nM when bound to purified C1q.
