Percoll

Precipitation is the accumulation of silica gel, does not affect the use. Density (g/ml): 1.130 ± 0.005 Percoll is a reference medium for the density gradient centrifugation of cells, viruses, and subcellular particles. Composed of colloidal silica coated with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP),  Percoll spontaneously forms a density gradient due to the heterogeneity in particle size within the medium. Gradients can be prepared using a convenient gradient mixer or high-speed centrifugation. In the latter case, samples may be pre-mixed with the medium prior to separation on the in-situ formed gradient, enabling both gradient formation and sample separation to be completed in a single operation.
