Nef-M1 (Nef-Motif-1) is an antagonistic peptide against CXCR4 and an apoptosis inducer derived from the myristylated protein encoded by the HIV nef gene. Nef-M1 activates the apoptosis pathway by increasing caspase-3 levels in cancer cells, thereby inhibiting tumor angiogenesis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Furthermore, Nef-M1 interferes with angiogenesis and EMT processes by inhibiting VEGF-A, p-GSK-3β, and vimentin, while simultaneously enhancing E-cadherin. This compound has potential applications in the research of colorectal cancer and breast cancer.
