It is used for enrichment culture of Yersinia enterocolitica. Sorbitol provides carbon and nitrogen sources, while disodium hydrogen phosphate and sodium dihydrogen phosphate serve as buffers. Bile salts inhibit Gram-positive bacteria, and sodium chloride maintains the osmotic pressure.
