This product is a kit that detects changes in intracellular mitochondrial membrane potential using the fluorescent probe Rhodamine 123. This kit can be used for membrane potential detection in cellular mitochondria， tissue mitochondria， or purified mitochondria. ΔΨm， or mitochondrial membrane potential (Mitochondrial membrane potential)， is a key parameter reflecting mitochondrial function. Simultaneously， a decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential is a key marker of early cell apoptosis. Monitoring changes in mitochondrial membrane potential provides insight into cellular apoptosis status. Similar to JC-1， Rhodamine 123 is a widely used mitochondrial membrane potential detection probe. Under normal conditions， Rhodamine 123 enters mitochondria in a voltage-dependent manner and emits bright yellow-green fluorescence. When mitochondrial membrane potential decreases， Rhodamine 123 is released from mitochondria， causing the yellow-green fluorescence within mitochondria to weaken or disappear. Changes in mitochondrial membrane potential can be determined by the intensity of Rhodamine 123 fluorescence. This kit provides CCCP as a positive control for inducing mitochondrial membrane potential decline. For most cells， mitochondrial membrane potential is nearly completely eliminated following CCCP treatment. For a 6-well plate， this kit can detect 100 samples; for a 96-well plate， it can detect 1000 samples.
