Melanotan I is a potent, non-selective melanocorticoid receptor (MCR) agonist. It is a synthetic analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH) that stimulates melanin production. Melanotan I induces skin tanning by mimicking the action of alpha-MSH on the melanocorticoid receptor type 1 (MC1R) on melanocytes.
