IMDM (Iscove's Modified Dulbecco Medium), Iscove's modified DMEM medium, was designed by Guilber and Iscove in 1976 for the culture of erythrocyte precursors and macrophages. On the basis of DMEM medium, IMDM medium added selenium, HEPES, sodium pyruvate and additional amino acids and vitamins, which is very rich in nutrition and is very suitable for rapid proliferation and high-density cell culture. IMDM culture medium can not only culture cells with special nutritional requirements (such as mouse B lymphocytes, LPS-stimulated B cells, bone marrow hematopoietic cells, T lymphocytes, and various hybridoma cells), but also serve as the base fluid for some unique serum-free media. This product contains amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts and other ingredients required for cell culture, but does not contain proteins, lipids or any growth factors, so this product should be used with serum or no serum additives.
