3-Hydroxy-3-Methyl Glutaryl Coenzyme A Reductase (HMGR; EC: 1.1.1.34) is the first rate-limiting enzyme of the mevalonate pathway (MVA),which plays a key role in the synthesis of plant cytoplasmic terpenoids and is essential for plant growth and development. HMG-CoA consumes two molecules of NADPH to produce 3-methyl-3,5-dihydrolevalonic acid (mevalonic acid) and 2 molecules of NADP catalyzed by HMG-CoA,and the activity of HMGR enzyme is determined by measuring the change of absorbance value at 340nm.
