L-glutamic acid and NADP + produce NH4 +， α-ketoglutarate and NADPH under the catalysis of glutamate dehydrogenase. NADPH has an absorption peak at 340 nm. By measuring the increase rate of absorbance at 340 nm， GDH activity can be measured.
