WST-8 Glucose Uptake Assay Kit is a kit that detects glucose uptake based on WST-8 colorimetric reaction. Glucose analog 2-DG can be transported into cells by glocose transfer proteins, and transformed into 2-DG6P uder the action of endogenous enzymes. G6PDH is able to catalyze 2-DG6P and convert NADH+ into NADPH simultaneously. NADPH reacts with WST-8 and generates orange-yellow formazan, which has maximum absorbance at 450nm. The absorbance value is directly proportional to the glucose uptake capacity of the cells. This kit can detect glucose uptake rapidly, sensitively, and non-radioactively. It has been validated that this kit exhibits good linearity at the glucose concentration of 10-500 uM.
