AMIGO1 is a brain-enriched transmembrane immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily protein with six extracellular leucine-rich repeats (LRR) and a single immunoglobulin-like (Ig) domain (PMID: 21938721). It is widely expressed in the central nervous system (CNS)， and can be found in neurons， astrocytes as well as oligodendrocytes. AMIGO1 acts as a homophilic adhesion molecule that induces outgrowth and fasciculation of neurites in central neurons (PMID: 12629050).
