0.02% EDTA Solution (Versene Solution，Sterile)

1. EDTA would not be neutralized. Digested cells need to be washed for one time using PBS. Or cells would be hard to adhere to the wall; 2. Use aseptic technique to avoid contamination. EDTA is a chemical chelating agent that is able to chelate divalent metal ions such as Ca2+ and Mg2+. Its solution is also called Versene solution. Because Ca2+ and Mg2+ are important constituents in cell membrane and can aggregate cells, EDTA is able to disrupt cell junction, inducing cells into single ones. EDTA is cheap, less toxic and easy to use. It does not disrupt cell surface molecules and binds to Ca2+ and Mg2+ only, so it is suitable for digetion of cells that requires surface detection. It is also used mixed with trypsin solution in specified ratio.
